  • M. Joann Wright, Ph.D. is currently the Executive Director for ACT One.  Joann is passionate about the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) model. Joann loves are in teaching and delivering ACT in order to help people reduce the suffering in their lives.  To that end, she has co-authored two ACT books aimed at assisting other therapists with their ACT work; Learning ACT for Group Treatment: An Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Skills Training Manual for Therapists (Westrup & Wright, 2017) and Experiencing ACT from the Inside Out: A Self-Practice/Self-Reflection Workbook for Therapists (Tirch, Silberstein-Tirch, Codd, Brock & Wright, 2019).  Joann is an Association of Contextual and Behavioral Sciences (ACBS) Fellow, she is the Vice President for the Board of the ACBS Foundation, and has been granted the distinction of Peer-Reviewed ACT Trainer. 

I’m not like everybody else: Supporting Neurodiversity when it shows up in therapy

    • Explore neuroscience, parts of the brain, and how those areas impact functioning.

    • Gain an understanding of the nervous system, polyvagal theory, and how brain differences show up in nervous system responses.

    • Analyze different therapeutic approaches and techniques that are effective for neurodiverse individuals, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, sensory integration therapy, and others.

    • Evaluate the specific challenges and strengths associated with neurodiverse conditions and how these impact therapeutic goals and outcomes.

    • Learn and implement effective communication strategies tailored to the needs of neurodiverse clients, including non-verbal communication and alternative communication methods.

  • Erin is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who obtained her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Benedictine University.  Erin has worked in community mental health and private practice settings over the past 8 years where she has served a variety of populations including children, teens, adults and families.  As a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist Erin utilizes neuroscience to assist clients in understanding how their nervous system impacts their functioning and implementing tools to assist in regulation. 

U-Turns and Trailheads: Effectively Implementing IFS Begins with the Therapist

  • Emily Pagone is a licensed clinical professional counselor, university-level lecturer, and specialist in treating trauma through an integrative lens primarily with IFS + EMDR, and IFS-Informed EMDR. Emily is the founder of Authentic Growth Wellness Group, leading a team of 16 clinicians at two locations (Hinsdale and Glen Ellyn). In addition to providing mental health counseling sessions to children, teens, young adults, families, parents, individuals, and couples, Emily is looking forward to her team launching several support groups and therapy intensives for both clients and clinicians next year.

  • Audrey Wilson is an experienced trauma therapist serving the western suburbs of Chicago. She is a rostered Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) therapist and has ten years of counseling experience. With a diverse background that includes working in agency, hospital, and outpatient settings, Audrey is dedicated to providing compassionate and evidence-based care. Audrey is also passionate about teaching, supporting, and supervising other clinicians in a way that is accessible and effective. She strives to empower her colleagues to feel confident and competent in their ability to treat trauma.

Training the Brain: Strategies to improve ADHD Symptoms using Neuroplasticity

  • Tami Curry, LCSW, has been a social worker since 2012, working with individuals with ADHD in various settings. She started her professional career working in the school setting. Additionally, she worked in private practice and now owns her own practice, TLC Counseling LLC. Tami brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding to her practice. Her passion for this area is deeply personal, as she has navigated her own ADHD challenges. This personal connection fuels her commitment to helping others manage and thrive with ADHD.
