Brittany is a Licensed Social Worker who graduated in 2014 with a Master’s in Social Work from Aurora University. She specialized in addictions in undergrad and worked in a community mental health setting that focused on substance abuse recovery after getting her MSW. Brittany took a break from Social Work to follow her passion for sports for 7 years before returning to the mental health field.
When she returned, she started at a private practice that specialized in working with the LBTQIA+ population. During her time there she was able to zero in on her niches: LGBTIQA+ issues (such as coming out, gender identity, transitioning, etc.) ADHD, addiction (including working with adult children of alcoholics), life transitions, and grief.
Brittany works with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. She uses a client/person-centered and strengths-based approach and draws from motivational interviewing, CBT, and DBT depending on clients’ needs.
“I view therapy as a place to find comfort, empathy, and support. For people to grow, they need to feel safe. I want to provide that safety anytime I am working with someone. To ensure safety, I put my full trust in the client and believe they are truly the experts in their lives.
My clients can expect a non-judgmental and warm environment at each session. I like to meet my clients where they are, ensuring there is no pressure for anyone to be who they are not. My goal is to make sure my clients are comfortable, heard, validated, and empowered. Successful therapy is going to look different with each person, and my clients and I work together to discover what success looks like for them”
